NOTICE ON THE RESULTS OF THE PUBLIC CALL OF THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BIENNALE OF THE ART OF BOOK [S]BUK2

Dear participants,

We wish to thank you for your participation at the 2nd International Student Biennale of the Art of Book, [s]BUK2. We are extremely pleased to have received such a large number of exceptionally valuable and high-quality works, both in terms of conceptual and aesthetic design. The professional jury had a difficult task to make a selection of works, whose number was limited by the capacity of the gallery space. Within the Artist Book Category, 88 candidates submitted their works, out of whom 49 were selected, while within the Photo Book Category 38 candidates submitted their works, out of whom 19 were selected.

Based on the professional jury’s vote, the works by the following candidates were selected in the Artist Book Category:

The exhibition of works from the International Student Biennale of the Art of Book, [s]BUK2 within the Artist Book Category will be held at the Gallery of the Students’ City Cultural Centre, while the exhibition of works within the Photo Book Category will be held at the Gallery of the Artget Cultural Centre in Belgrade in November 2020. On that occasion, the awards will be announced - one for each category, while the professional jury is entitled to award special mentions and commendations to authors.

The deadline for submission of works is 1 October 2020. The works should be sent to the following address:

marked "Works for the Student Biennale of the Art of Book, [s]BUK2." The works should be accompanied by a note stating that the works are gifts, so as to be exempt from customs duty.

A short description of works should be typed and sent to the following email address: sbuk@fpu.bg.ac.rs

Works can also be submitted in person, where it is necessary that students leave their addresses to which the works will be sent after the Biennale.

Students can follow online exhibition events via [s]BUK Biennale’s website, which is currently under construction, or at the Gallery of Students’ City Cultural Centre and the Artget Gallery, contingent upon the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The professional jury for the Artist Book Category consisted of the following members:

 

Marijela Cvetić, visual artists, professor at the Faculty of Architecture

Željko Lončar, graphic designer and professor at the School of Fine and Applied Arts in Belgrade.

Nikola Radosavljević, PhD in applied arts, graphic artist – freelance artists

 

The professional jury for the Photo Book Category consisted of the following members:

Borut Vild, graphic designer, professor at the Digital Art Department of the University of Singidunum’s Faculty of Media and Communication in Belgrade

Mihailo Vasiljević, visual artists, photographer and art historian, doctoral candidate at the Department of Art History of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade

Vladimir Tatarević, visual artist, photographer, completed his PhD and worked as an associate professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade

 

We apologise to all participants of this year’s International Student Biennale of the Art of Book, [s]BUK, for a delay in communicating the professional jury’s decisions, which is due technical reasons and, at the same time, we would like to thank you all, hoping that we will collaborate again in the following, the third Biennale.
